The 22nd annual CUPS/Stampeders Kickoff Breakfast, presented by Apache Canada Ltd., will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at the Imperial Ballroom of Calgary's Hyatt Regency hotel (700 Centre St. SE).

The breakfast - which goes from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. - brings together Calgary's corporate community to help raise money and awareness for CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) . In its 25th year, CUPS remains on the forefront of helping the most vulnerable individuals and families in our city.

The Stamps will be represented at the breakfast by president Gordon Norrie, members of the Outriders cheer team and a contingent of players including all-star offensive lineman Brett Jones, who is in his first season as the team's player representative for CUPS.

Jones takes over as CUPS player rep from Dimitri Tsoumpas, who announced his retirement as a player during the past off-season. He continues the tradition of a Stampeders offensive lineman serving in that role, with his predecessors including Tsoumpas, Jay McNeil, Jamie Crysdale and Bruce Covernton.

"It's a privilege to work with CUPS and I look forward not only to the Kickoff Breakfast but also to many other future activities to support this great organization," said Jones. "Tsoump did a very good job as the CUPS player rep and I hope to pick up where he left off."

"The CUPS/Calgary Stampeders Kickoff Breakfast is a wonderful event with which we are extremely pleased to be involved," said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. "First, the event is a sign that a new football season is around the corner. Secondly, and even more importantly, the breakfast raises funds and awareness for a great organization like CUPS. I sincerely thank our friends at Apache Canada for the work they do in putting on this event."

The Kickoff Breakfast is closing in on $1 million raised for CUPS since its inception.

"The support from corporate Calgary keeps growing every year and Apache is extremely proud to present such a great event to benefit CUPS," said Apache Canada President Tim Sullivan.

"CUPS is all about improving lives and their programs and services really are a game-changer for many less-fortunate Calgarians. Our team of Apache volunteers really work hard to ensure the breakfast is a success every year and the giving spirit of Calgarians is always front and centre for this fundraiser."

"Last year, we moved into our new facility and expanded our programs. This year, we celebrate our 25th anniversary," said Carlene Donnelly, Executive Director of CUPS.

"This has only been possible due to the ongoing support of generous Calgarians and partners such as the Calgary Stampeders and Apache Canada Ltd. We look forward to continuing this partnership as we empower Calgary's most vulnerable. It is truly a privilege to be part of such a caring community."
