Iowa Cubs News Release
The Nashville Sounds out-homered Iowa en route to a 5-2 victory over the Cubs Friday night at Principal Park.
Angel Salome gave Nashville a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the second inning.
The Cubs answered back when Micah Hoffpauir tied the game 1-1 in the fourth inning with his first home run of the season and his 100th homer in the minor leagues. Iowa's other run came on Jason Dubois' solo homer in the sixth. Dubois also reached in the fourth on a single. Bryan LaHair was 2-for-3 for Iowa.
Jay Jackson (0-1) of Iowa took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings of work. The Soundsâ Chuck Lofgren (1-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits in 5.2 innings. John Axford picked up his first save this season.
