ABERDEEN, Md. - The Connecticut Tigers (29-41) used an offensive outburst to take Game 1 of a doubleheader 8-1 before falling 3-0 in Game 2 against the Aberdeen IronBirds (37-35) on Thursday night.

The Tigers picked up two multi-RBI triples from Jose King and Cam Warner to power the 8-1 win in Game 1. Connecticut opened up the scoring in the second inning when they produced five runs on three hits off of Aberdeen starter Matt Hammonds (Loss, 4-3).

After loading the bases with a single by Danny Reyes and a walk by Nick Ames, Sam McMillan drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single to left field. King followed with a triple down the right field line to clear the bases. Jeremiah Burks landed the final blow in the frame with a sacrifice fly to center field that made it 5-0.

In the next frame, Warner delivered a two-run triple to right-center field that extended the Tigers lead and gave the Tigers their first game with two RBI triples this season. Parker Meadows added insurance for Connecticut in the sixth on an RBI single to left field that scored McMillan. Reyes went 2-for-3 in the game with a walk and two runs scored for Connecticut. Burks ended the opener 1-for-3 to make it eight hits in the last nine games.

Stevie Ledesma (Win, 1-2) had one of his best performances as professional on the mound. While picking up his first New York-Penn League win, he posted a career-high six innings and surrendered just one unearned run on four hits while striking out six.

In Game 2, Aberdeen starter Tyler Joiner (Win, 2-0) threw a complete game in seven innings to give the IronBirds a 3-0 win. Joiner gave up just three hits and no walks while striking out seven Tigers that came to the plate. Jordan Verdon was the only Tiger to record a multi-hit game going 2-for-3 in the contest. Jayce Vancena (Loss, 0-1) got the start for Connecticut and went five innings giving up just four hits and one unearned run.

The IronBirds struck twice in the bottom of the sixth off of Tigers reliever Robbie Welhaf to pad their lead. After Willy Yahn stole home, Alexis Torres came in to score on an RBI single by Milton Ramos. Welhaf went one inning giving up two runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
