
Crushers Fall in Series Finale

Evansville, Ind. - The Lake Erie Crushers (14-19) looked to win their second consecutive series on their nine game roadstand. The Evansville Otters (21-11) looked to stay in first place in their respective division with a weekend series win.
The Crushers led early but the Otters used an enormous fifth inning to score 11 of their 13 runs in the 13-3 win for Evansville on Sunday.
Jackson Valera put Lake Erie in the lead with an RBI single to the pitcher, Bryant Flete scored 1-0.
The Otters in the fifth inning unleashed their offense by putting up a crooked 11 runs. The run carousel started with an RBI double from Miles Gordon to center field, 1-1. Zach Biermann followed with an RBI single of his own to center field, 2-1. J.R. Davis drew the bases loaded walk with one out, 3-1. Dakota Phillips cleared the base with a grand slam to center field blowing the inning up early, 7-1. The Otters batted around, Miles Gordon lined a double to right field that scored two runners, 9-1. Zach Biermann followed Goran with a double to right field, scoring one run, 10-1. Jeffery Baez topped off the 11 run inning with an RBI single to left field, 11-1. The Otters used nine hits, six extra base hits, and one home run in the inning.
In the seventh inning, Jackson Valera continued his hot season with his second hit and second RBI with a single to right field, Sean Cheely scored, 11-2.
Evansville up big used more power to increase their lead. Zach Biermann for his third hit and fourth RBI hit a two run home run to left field, 13-3.
The Crushers needing 10 runs to send the game to the bottom of the ninth, they were only able to score one. Jackson Valera singled to center field as Sean Cheely scored, 13-3. That was the ballgame as the Otters won 13-3 in convincing fashion.
The result wasn't pretty for the Crushers but the production from their hitters is something to note. Austin White, a new addition to the team on Tuesday, has hit safely in all six games. Including four multi-hit performances, three doubles, four RBI's, and batting .355. Connor Owings recorded 10 hits in six games, seven RBI's, two home runs, and four extra base hits.
