Colorado Crush News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Crush have waived veteran wide receiver/defensive back and Colorado State alumni Thal Woods from the practice squad, and signed second-year WR/DB Touré Carter to the practice squad after he cleared waivers, the team announced today.
Woods (5-9, 173 lbs.) was in his third season with the Crush after being discovered at open tryout prior to the team's inaugural 2003 season. Woods appeared in six regular season games over two-plus seasons, making two catches for 22 yards and adding 8.5 tackles and a pass breakup. He also started both Crush playoff games in 2004, making five tackles. He spent the first four games of the 2005 season on the practice squad and had yet to appear in a game this season.
Carter (5-10, 183, Ashland (Ohio) University) is in his second AFL season and spent the first four games on injured reserve with a strained right quadriceps prior to being waived on Monday. Carter cleared waivers and was then eligible to be re-signed to the Crush practice squad.
Carter was originally signed to the Crush practice squad on May 12, 2004, following college graduation, and then appeared in the final two regular season games and both playoff games with the Crush in 2004. He totaled 1.5 tackles and a pass breakup in the regular season, and had 5.5 tackles in the playoffs.
The Crush active roster remains at the league minimum of 20 players, and there are now two players on the practice squad - Carter and WR/DB Herman Bell.
The Crush host the Los Angeles Avengers at Pepsi Center at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. Single-game tickets start at just $7 and can be purchased by calling (303) 830-TIXS or logging on to ticketmaster.com.
