Crush Unveils Logo, Uniforms, Web Site
October 3, 2002 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
DENVER - In a program that featured action-packed video pieces and culminated with a fashion show-like presentation, the Colorado Crush unveiled the team's logo, uniforms, and apparel at Pepsi Center. The program also included insights into the entire logo, uniform, and apparel development process.
"It's been an amazing process and we're really excited about the entire look," said JOHN ELWAY, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Colorado Crush. "There's no question we're getting close to putting our team together and we are confident our players will like wearing these uniforms come February."
In addition to the extravaganza at Pepsi Center, the Colorado Crush also announced the launch of the team's new Web site, www.coloradocrush.com. The site will serve as a valuable source of information and will also enable Crush fans to purchase season tickets and official Colorado Crush gear.
Expansion Draft on October 22
Former Arena Football League All-Rookie performers, former NFL starting quarterbacks and other talented players are among those whom the Colorado Crush can choose when the AFL conducts the 2003 Expansion Draft for its newest team on Tuesday, October 22, 2002.
"We're really looking forward to the expansion draft," said Colorado Crush Head Coach BOB BEERS. "This is where we get to build our team. Our entire coaching staff will continue to work very hard on evaluating players who will be available."
The Crush may choose a player from any current team who is designated as "unprotected." Each team protected 16 players whose rights they control. All other players whose rights they control are deemed "unprotected" and hence eligible to be selected by Colorado. AFL Free Agents (players with three or more accrued seasons whose contracts have expired) and Exempt players do not count on the 40-player maximum offseason roster, do not have to be protected, and are not eligible for the expansion draft.
The draft, which is conducted via telephone conference, begins at 1:00 p.m. (ET) on October 22 and consists of 20 rounds. A maximum of five minutes per selection is allowed in each round. If the time limit expires, the pick is forfeited. Trades between the Colorado Crush and other clubs may be made at any time prior to and during the draft.
