Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER - Two more free agent players have agreed to terms to become members of the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League.

Fullback-linebacker Sunungura "Go-Go" Rusununguko, a veteran of three seasons with the AFL's Indiana Firebirds, and two-way lineman Derrick Pickens, who was on the Firebirds roster until signing with the Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League, are the 19th and 20th free agents to sign with the Crush for the 2004 season.

Terms of their contacts were not announced.

Rusununguko, known to coaches, players and fans alike as "Go-Go," is a versatile 6-foot-3, 270-pound player who has played some in the interior line, as well as at fullback-linebacker. He played college football at Ball State.

"Go-Go is a very physical player we were fortunate to get signed," said Crush head coach Mike Dailey, who coached Rusununguko during his three seasons with the Firebirds. "He's got a lot of upside, he's a great competitor and a very physical defensive player who can play linebacker, or with his hand down."

Pickens, 6-1 and 280, played college football at Iowa, where he received All-Big 10 honorable mention honors. He was in training camp in 2002 with the NFL's Oakland Raiders.

"We were fortunate to have him in our training camp before he left for an opportunity in the CFL," Dailey said of Pickens. "He's a good physical talent with a lot of versatility."

Previously announced Crush free agent signees were: quarterbacks Matt Lytle, Jose Davis and Jay McDonagh, fullback-linebackers Rich Young and John Peaua, two-way linemen Hugh Hunter, Pat Downey and Don Klein, defensive specialists Tony Scott and Rashad Floyd, wide receivers Darcey Levy, Robert Redd, Willis Marshall, Windrell Hayes, James Rooths, Ron Rogers and Margin Hooks and kicker Anthony Brenner.
