Crush Signs QB Jose Davis

DENVER - The Colorado Crush on Thursday added Arena Football League veteran quarterback Jose Davis to its roster as a free agent signee, reuniting him with head coach Mike Dailey, for whom he played last season in Indiana.

Terms of Davis' contract were not disclosed.

Davis, 6-foot-1 and 196 pounds, started four games for the Firebirds during the 2003 AFL season. He completed 59-of-111 passes for 613 yards end eight touchdowns and was intercepted three times. He also rushed 11 times for 21 yards.

"Jose is a real strong-armed quarterback who did a good job for us last season in Indiana," Dailey said. "He came in and won a few games for us. He's got some valuable experience and knowing our offensive system is a big plus for him."

Davis played college football at Kent State University, where he still hold every career passing and total offense record. He also owns the Mid-American Conference single-game records of 551 passing yards and eight touchdowns accounted for, seven passing and one rushing.

Davis in 2000 and 2001 played for Winnipeg, of the Canadian Football League. In 2002 he played for Ohio Valley, of the National Indoor Football League.

Davis' signing brings to 10 the number of players signed by the Crush since the AFL's free agent signing period began on Oct. 15. Previously announced were quarterback Jay McDonagh, fullback-linebacker Rich Young, two-way linemen Hugh Hunter and Pat Downey, defensive specialist Rashad Floyd, wide receivers Darcey Levy, Robert Redd and Margin Hooks and kicker Anthony Brenner.
