AUSTIN, Texas -- The Austin Wranglers, the Arena Football League's 19th franchise, have announced the University of Texas Board of Regents' formal approval at their meeting held today at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. The much anticipated approval will permit the Austin Wranglers to play in the Frank Erwin Special Events Center located on the University of Texas campus.

Wranglers President and General Manager GREGORY L. FESTE said, "Today is a historic day for professional sports in Austin. This is the first time fans will be able to attend professional football in the Frank Erwin Center. We are thrilled that the University's Board of Regents approved our lease agreement and look forward to our inaugural season in 2004.

The Wranglers will kick off their inaugural season in February of 2004 and will host the 2003 ArenaBowl champions, the Tampa Bay Storm, in a nationally-televised game on February 22, 2004. The Wranglers will play eight home games of their sixteen regular-season schedule at the Frank Erwin Center. At least four of those games are scheduled to be nationally televised.

The Austin ownership group, led by Feste, consists of JIM SCHNEIDER, CFO of Dell, Inc.; GLYN MILBURN, Assistant General Manager of the team and former NFL player; TONY BOSELLI, former NFL player; ANDRE WADSWORTH, former NFL player; MARK BRUNELL, current Jacksonville Jaguar; LEONARD DAVIS, current Arizona Cardinal; and MIKE WILLIAMS, current Buffalo Bill.

The Board of Regents' approval comes following the AFL Board of Directors' unanimous approval to grant Austin an AFL franchise on September 4.
