Crush open 2007 training camp Wednesday
February 5, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Colorado Crush News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Crush will begin defense of their back-to-back Central Division titles when they officially open their 2007 training camp on Wednesday, February 7th. The Crush will conduct all their 2007 training camp practices at Five Star Stadium in Thornton. If the weather is not conducive to practicing outdoors, the team will hold practices at the South Suburban Family Sports Dome.
With 18 returning players, competition in camp will be among the club's strongest ever. The Colorado Crush's complete 2007 training camp roster is attached.
"Anytime you begin a new season, you look for a competitive environment in training camp in search of the best players for your team," said Head Coach Mike Dailey. "This season with the AFL's new free substitution rules, I think you we see a lot of veterans and rookies competing at a higher level, all fighting for those roster spots. We have a great core of players returning that have been with us for several seasons, but I am also very encouraged about the rookies coming into our camp."
ROSTER SIZES:
The Crush enter training camp with 36 players vying for 24 roster sports. All AFL teams will be required to reduce their active rosters to 24 players by Monday, February 26th. That date also marks the beginning of the signing period for practice squad players. Each team may carry up to four players on their practice squad. This is in addition to their 24-man roster.
CRUSH & AUSTIN WRANGLERS WORKOUTS:
The Crush will travel to Austin from Wednesday, February 21st through Friday, February 23rd, to conduct a two-day workout with the Austin Wranglers, who are led by first-year head coach and former Crush offensive coordinator Brian Partlow. These combined practices will allow both teams to better prepare for the season since the AFL has no preseason games.
