Crush Names Mike Monroe Director of Communications

Denver, CO (Oct. 14, 2003) - Colorado Crush CEO John Elway and President Ronald O. Sally have announced the appointment of veteran Denver journalist Mike Monroe as the team's Director of Communications.

Monroe joins the Colorado Crush after having served as Senior Writer covering the NBA for FoxSports.com for the past three years. He was a sports writer at The Denver Post from 1971-2000, covering a wide variety of sports. He spent his final 15 years at The Post covering the Denver Nuggets and the NBA.

"We're delighted to add a journalist of Mike's experience and qualifications to our communications and media relations staff,' Sally said. "I have always admired his professionalism, affability and local and national reputation.

"Mike's knowledge of the media marketplace in our region will serve us well as we prepare for our second season in the AFL."

Monroe, a 1971 graduate of the University of Colorado, began his sports writing career in 1968 at the Colorado Springs Free Press. He worked for the Colorado Springs Gazette-Telegraph before joining The Denver Post sports staff in 1971.

Named Colorado Sports Writer of the Year in 1997 by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, Monroe served for two years as president of the Professional Basketball Writers Association. He served on the board of directors of The Denver Press Club for five years and was president of The Denver Press Club in 1986.
