Crush cease operations
January 17, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Buzz News Release
It is with great regret that we announce that the Orange County Crush Basketball team will no longer be able to participate within the American Basketball Association.
Due to the recent mishap that occurred when Ticketmaster mistakenly charged a $50.00 service charge on all of our game tickets. This mistake caused the Orange County Crush Organization to lose Dennis Rodman, apparel deals, ESPN coverage and many ticket sells.
The domino affect of this unfortunate situation has filtered into other elements of the organization, which has caused the team to cease play.
We apologize to the sponsors and fans that did take the opportunity to support our team in the midst of our inaugural season. We had every intention of completing the season and to be a permanent fixture at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control dictated the current outcome.
If you wish to inquire further into the matter, you may contact the ABA league office at (ABAlive.com).
May God continue to bless you.
Sincerely,
The Orange County Crush Basketball LLC, staff.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
