DENVER, Colo. - Colorado head coach Mike Dailey bided his time through the first five weeks of the season, while other coaches were creating heavy come-and-go roster traffic in AFL.
The Crush's first player signing of the young season is (6-2, 250, Rice) DL John Syptak. Syptak was signed to the Crush practice squad after most recently spending training camp with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers this past year.
"Depth is always an issue for teams in the AFL," Dailey said. "We are constantly looking for guys that can be an asset both on the practice field and in the arena. We feel John [Syptak] is one of those guys."
The Crush will face off against the (3-1) New Orleans VooDoo at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Pepsi Center. It will be the first time since the 2005 season the two teams have met. Coach Dailey and the Crush hold a 2-0 record all-time against the VooDoo and will look to get back to the .500 mark after back-to-back losses on the road.
