Crunch Sign Defenseman David Liffiton

Syracuse, NY (July 13, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have signed defenseman David Liffiton to an American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Liffiton, 24, appeared in 25 games with Esbjerg IK (Denmark) last season, compiling three goals, six assists and 84 penalty minutes. Liffiton spent parts of four seasons with the New York Rangers organization from 2004-08. During that span, he skated in 176 games with the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford, registering four goals, 21 assists and 473 penalty minutes.

Liffiton made his National Hockey League debut while with the Rangers on April 11, 2006 vs. the NY Islanders. In all, he has appeared in three NHL games, all with the NY Rangers and collected nine penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Liffiton skated in 170 games with Plymouth (OHL) from 2001-04, tallying 10 goals, 29 assists and 289 penalty minutes.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Liffiton was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round, 63rd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
