
Cracker-Cats Come Home for Seven Games

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Cracker-Cats return home Tuesday, August 16 after going 5-1 on their previous six-game road trip. Third baseman Chris Hall went 11-for-21 (.524) with a double, two home runs and seven RBI during the road trip and is currently working on a nine-game hitting streak. Right-hander Ira Brown became the bullpen workhorse, making appearances in five of the six games on the road. Brown recorded two saves in 7.2 innings of work while striking out nine batters. Edmonton natives Reggie Rivard, who picked up his fifth win of the year, and Aric Van Gaalen, who allowed only one run in three appearances, were key contributors on the successful road trip.

On Tuesday the North Division leading Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks come to town for a three-game set with the Cracker-Cats. With a 25-4 record coming in, the RedHawks are running away with the North Division second half. Players of interest are:
Right-hander Brandon Culp: Is 11-0, 2.51 ERA (93.1 IP - 26 ER) in 14 starts, 16 appearances. Spent four seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization prior to this season.
Left-hander Joe Sergent: Is 10-2, 3.31 ERA (100.2 IP - 37 ER) in 15 games, all starts. Spent four seasons in the Florida Marlins organization before playing last season with Fargo-Moorhead.
Catcher Kelly Gulledge: Is hitting .346 (64-for-185) with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 49 games. Was drafted in the 10th round by the Minnesota Twins, has spent time in the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers organizations as well. This is his second year with Fargo-Moorhead. On Friday, August 19th, the Sioux Falls Canaries come to town for a four-game series with the Cracker-Cats. The Canaries currently have the same record as the Cracker-Cats at 13-16. Some players of interest are:
Abner Arroyo: Is hitting .321 (93-for-290) with 11 home runs and 57 RBI in 73 games. Signed as a non-drafted free agent with the San Diego Padres and spent three seasons in their organization. In his first year with Sioux Falls and first year in the Northern League. Edgard Clemente: Is hitting .277 (69-for-249) with 20 home runs and 57 RBI in 72 games this season. Has 114 Major League games under his belt and spent 22 games with the Edmonton Trappers in 2000. Juan Thomas: Is hitting .318 (77-for-242) with 12 home runs and 51 RBI in 68 games this season. Spent time at the Triple-A level with Tacoma and Louisville.

PROMOTION SCHEDULE CHANGE
On Wednesday, August 17, the Edmonton Cracker-Cats were planning to give away bobble heads to the first 1000 fans in the ball park. Due to the recent transportation labour dispute in British Columbia, the bobble heads will not be available in time for Wednesday. The bobble head giveaway will be rescheduled for later in the season, if possible, after we are able to ascertain an arrival date from Vancouver trucking port.
