Coyotes Recall Samuelsson, Assign Martinook to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Arizona Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forward Henrik Samuelsson and assigned forward Jordan Martinook to the Portland Pirates, the club's American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 21-year-old Samuelsson has registered 10-15-25 and 38 penalty minutes (PIM) in 50 games with the Pirates this season. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania recorded 35-60-95 in 65 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL) last season. He helped Edmonton capture the Memorial Cup Championship after totaling 4-4-8 in five Memorial Cup games. Samuelsson was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (27th overall) in the 2012 Entry Draft.

The 22-year-old Martinook has collected 0-1-1 in eight games with the Coyotes this season. The 6-foot, 202-pound native of Brandon, Manitoba has also registered 11-27-28 and a plus-six rating in 44 games with the Pirates. Martinook was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (58th overall) in the 2012 Entry Draft.
