Central Valley Coyotes News Release


The Coyotes and the Islanders locked up on July 27, 2003 at the Neal Blaisdell Arena for the final regular season of the game with both teams headed to the playoffs. The contest turned out to be an offensive shootout with the Coyotes coming away with a 75-61 victory in front of 3,988 fans at the Blaisdell.

Coyotes wide receiver/linebacker Eric Mahanke led the way for Central Valley, grabbing 9 receptions for 139 yards, finding the endzone 7 times, tying a league record. Defensively Mahanke tallied 2.5 tackles, which was good enough to earn him game MVP honors.

Mahanke went on to finish the season leading the Coyotes in receptions (84), yards receiving (1,129) and touchdowns (29).

Central Valley finished second in the National Conference West that season with an 8-7-1 record. However, the Coyotes lost to Arkansas 36-28 in Little Rock in the first round of the playoffs.

Other Notes

The Coyotes will also be holding dancer tryouts Thursday, February 12th at the Selland Arena located at 700 ‘M' Street. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Coyotes will be holding their second player tryout on Saturday, February 21st at Hoover High School located at 5550 North First Street in Fresno, CA. Registration will be promptly at 10:00 a.m. Athletes are encouraged to come out and showcase their skills in front of head coach Cree Morris and his staff.
