
Coyotes Assigned Two Free Agents

FRESNO â The Central Valley Coyotes have been assigned wide receiver/defensive back B'Jay Jones and fullback/linebacker Vai Notoa by the arenafootball2 league, head coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. announced today.
"It is great to bring in the experience these players have," said Fred Biletnikoff Jr., who was the Coyote offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach last mid-season. "Both of these guys have proven they can be assets while with other teams and should fit well in our roster."
Jones (6-3, 200 pounds) has one year of af2 experience as he was a two-way star with the Ladero Law last season. Jones played all 16 games in Ladero while becoming the team's second leading receiver with 40 receptions for 678 yards and 13 touchdowns. At defensive back Jones tallied 27 tackles and an interception.
Before playing in arena football, Jones was a standout wide receiver at Langston (Okla.) University from 2000-03.
Born on January 28, 1980, Jones played wide receiver at Vallejo (Calif.) High where he earned All-City honors and was a standout long jumper.
Notoa (6-0, 265 pounds) spent the past two season's with the af2's Hawaiian Islanders. He is Hawaii's all-time leading rusher with 200 yards on 67 carries and 20 rushing touchdowns. In 28 games with the Islanders, Notoa has racked up 59 tackles, four sacks, two blocked kicks, two forced fumbles and a safety.
Notoa is familiar to the Central Valley as he spent his collegiate career at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif.
Born on November 23, 1976, Notoa prepped at Kahuku (Hawi.) High.
The Coyotes will hold an open try-out at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, Calif. on Saturday, January 15 at 9:00 a.m. and registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The cost of the tryout will be $60, paid the day of. For more information contact the Coyote front office at 559-263-9780.
