Central Valley Coyotes News Release
(Fresno, Ca) - The Central Valley Coyotes are proud to announce that they have been assigned three players with a wealth of arena experience. Original members from the 2004 team Wes Borba and LaMonte Jones are back for a third season and will be joined by former San Diego Riptide standout Nakoa McElrath.
In two seasons with the San Diego Riptide McElrath accumulated 88 receptions for 1,413 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also recorded 270 yards on kickoff returns and six interceptions. Prior to joining the Riptide he spent training camp with the Seattle Seahawks in 2002. He was named a JC Gridwire Second-Team All-American after his sophomore year at Palomar JC when he tallied 56 receptions for 1,128 yards and 12 touchdowns. After transferring to Washington State, McElrath helped the Cougars to a 10-2 record in 2001, culminating in a Sun Bowl victory that season. He set team records with 72 catches and 1,163 yards receiving that season. 2006 is his first year with the Coyotes. "After coaching against him for two years, we can't wait to be on the same side of the ball as him. He is a difference maker!" said Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr.
In two years Borba has recorded 57catches for 531 yards and ten touchdowns at receiver and has recorded 61 tackles defensively. "Wes was the first player to sign with us this year and if you've seen him play you'll know why," Biletnikoff added.
In two seasons Jones, who is 19 receptions away from being the franchises All Time Leader in Receptions, has 119 catches for 1,340 yards and 27 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 34 and a half tackles and a pass break up. He also has 22 kick off returns for 465 yards, averaging 21 yards per return. "LaMonte have been with us since that first "experimental" season and he has helped get us out of the cellar and half way to where we want to be. Hopefully his experience along with new additions like Nakoa will get us where we want to be in this league."
The Central Valley Coyotes begin their hunt for the 2006 ArenaCup on April 1, 2006. Season tickets are still available. For addition information contact the Central Valley Coyotes at 559-263-9780.
