Cowan Joins Cyclones' Front Office
The Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced Monday the addition of Sean Cowan as Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach. A native of Long Island, New York, Cowan is optimistic about the move to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, "I'm excited to get the opportunity to join the Cyclones. I am also looking forward to getting back into professional hockey and returning to beautiful North Carolina."
Cowan has a background deep in hockey. Playing college hockey for Elmira College in New York, Cowan was a part of three ECAC (Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference) West titles and made three appearances in NCAA tournaments. He spent three years at the professional level, playing in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the Central Hockey League (CHL). Additionally, Cowan was assistant coach for Elmira College during the 1996-97 season, and also for the Elmira Jackals in the United Hockey League (UHL) for the 2005-06 season.
Cowan also has extensive experience in sales, working for such companies as Tommy Armour Golf and Innovative Hockey. He also owned and operated his own hockey pro shop for three years.
"We are looking forward to Sean (Cowan) joining our Team. He brings a lot of experience with him," stated Mark Richards, Head Coach and General Manager of the Twin City Cyclones.
