Carolina Courage News Release

Courage Earns First-Ever Point In Philly: The Carolina Courage played to a 2-2 tie against the Charge, emerging from Philadelphia with its first-ever point in four attempts on the turf of Villanova Stadium. The Courage had outscored 10-1 in its three previous losses in Philadelphia.

Prinz and Fotopoulos Lead Courage Back: Birgit Prinz recorded a goal and an assist and Danielle Fotopoulos snatched a late equalizer to help Carolina come from behind twice against the Philadelphia Charge.

Fotopoulos Keeps Getting It Done: Despite her team's struggles, Danielle Fotopoulos is quietly putting together an impressive season. Fotop is ranked first in the WUSA in assists with 5, and is only one goal and one point behind the League's leading goals and points leaders.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Semifinal Rematch: The Courage and Beat will meet for the first time this season on Saturday. The two teams' last non-exhibition match was August 17th 2002 at SAS Stadium, where the Courage snatched a dramatic overtime victory that propelled it to Founders Cup II.

Herndon Revisited: A nostalgic Courage squad returns to Herndon Stadium on Saturday, the site of Carolina's 3-2 victory over Washington in Founders Cup II.

Courage Will Look To Fotopoulos To Bring Down The Beat: The Courage owns a 5-1-1 all-time series advantage against Atlanta. One of the main reasons for this success is the play of Danielle Fotopoulos, who has recorded four goals and three assists in seven games against the Beat.

Luckenbill Stingy Against The Beat: Courage goalkeeper Kristin Luckenbill has a goals against average (GAA) of less than 1.00 against the Atlanta Beat, the team against whom she has had the most success.
