Carolina Courage News Release

Morrisville, NC (January 9, 2003) - Today defending WUSA champion, Carolina Courage, and PUMA North America, Inc. announced an exclusive two-year partnership naming the global athletic company as the official supplier for the Courage starting with the 2003 season.

"PUMA has a longstanding soccer heritage and has been a supporter of the WUSA athletes since the league's inception. Partnering with the Carolina Courage maximizes PUMA's on-field presence within the growing women's soccer market," said John Stevenson, Vice President and General Manager of Teamsport for PUMA North America. "We are especially pleased to outfit a team that demonstrates athletic excellence and a commitment to the community."

The Courage joins an impressive roster of PUMA--sponsored teams that includes the Italian National Team, the Cameroon National Team, English Premier League club Everton, Italian Serie A side Lazio, and the Chicago Fire. PUMA also sponsors an elite list of athletes, including Danielle Fotopoulos, Tiffany Roberts, and Hege Riise of the Carolina Courage.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the PUMA family," said Courage Vice President of Operations Buckley Andrews. "PUMA is a global leader in sports brand equipment and apparel, and we are proud that PUMA has chosen the Carolina Courage as a platform to showcase its soccer products."

The new uniforms and training line will reflect PUMA's unique blend of style, sleek design, innovative fabrications, and the latest in PUMA technology to support the Courage as it takes the field. A star will be featured on the new match jersey to signify the Founders Cup title awarded to the Courage from the 2002 season.

The Courage will begin its defense of the WUSA Founders Cup trophy on April 5th at SAS Stadium in Cary with a rematch of WUSA title game, as Mia Hamm and the Washington Freedom will look for revenge against the reigning WUSA champs. Season tickets start at just $95 and are on sale now. For information call the Carolina Courage office at (919) 573-7626 or visit online at www.carolinacourage.com.
