Courage Announces La Noche Hispana

Carolina Courage News Release


Morrisville, NC (July 10, 2003) - The Carolina Courage and the Consulate of Mexico in Raleigh are joining forces to present La Noche Hispana, a showcase of the best amateur soccer and a celebration hispanic culture at SAS Stadium on Saturday, July 12. La Noche Hispana includes a doubleheader that features the Carolina Courage vs. New York Power, followed by the Final of the Regional Copa Mexico Tournament.

The two teams competing in the second game of the double-header will be determined by a round-robin tournament played throughout the day on Saturday featuring six teams, representing North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The winner of the Regional Final will advance as the Mid-Atlantic representative to the National Tournament, which will take place from August 28-31 in Salt Lake City, UT.

The festivities surrounding the La Noche Hispana will feature pre-game entertainment, including a mariachi band and children's fun zone, and authentic hispanic food and drink. The gates at SAS Stadium open at 5:30 pm.

Schedule of Events

9:00 am: Field 4 - Maryland vs. Raleigh Field 5 - Baltimore vs. Durham

12:00 noon: Field 4 - Raleigh vs. Greenville, S.C. Field 5 - Baltimore vs. D.C. Huitzo

3:00 pm: Field 4 - Maryland vs. Greenville, S.C. Field 5 - Durham vs. D.C. Huitzo

Note: There is no admission charge to the above qualifying rounds.

5:30 pm: Gates open at SAS Stadium La Noche Hispana begins

7:00 pm: Stadium Field - Carolina Courage vs. New York Power

9:30 pm: Stadium Field - Regional Copa Mexico Final (teams tbd.)

Tickets for La Noche Hispana doubleheader can be purchased at the SAS Stadium ticket office, Monday through Saturday 10 am - 5:30 pm, at local Kroger's and Hecht's or by calling Ticketmaster at (919) 834-4000.
