Prince George Cougars News Release

LANGLEY, BC - The Prince George Cougars extended their winning streak to seven games with a commanding 6-3 victory over the Vancouver Giants at the Langley Events Centre, fueled by standout performances from Zac Funk and Terik Parascak.

The Cougars wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Terik Parascak set up Carlin Dezainde beautifully just 3:56 into the game, with Dezainde burying the puck top corner past Matthew Hutchison. Parascak's assist marked a milestone, making him the third Cougar this season to reach the impressive 100-point mark. Vancouver responded with goals from PG native Cameron Schmidt at 11:36 and Jaden Lipinski at 19:11, but Parascak swiftly answered with his 42nd goal of the season, capitalizing on a sublime pass from Riley Heidt to level the score at two after the first period.

The second period saw a concerning moment at 10:41 when Hunter Laing left the game on a stretcher following a collision with a Giant. Despite being granted a five-minute power-play opportunity, Vancouver's Lipinski capitalized with a short-handed goal at 11:14. However, Zac Funk responded on the same power-play at 14:02 with his 66th goal of the season, tying him with Eric Fehr for the most power-play goals in a single WHL season.

The Cougars seized control in the final period, led by Funk, who notched his second goal of the game just 1:14 into the period to give Prince George the lead. Jett Lajoie extended the lead to 5-3 at 8:08, tapping home a back-door feed from Funk. Terik Parascak provided insurance late in the game, sealing the 6-3 victory for Prince George with an empty-netter at 19:38.
