
Cosmos Sign Kharlton Belmar on Loan from Portland Timbers 2

NEW YORK (Oct. 1, 2015) - The New York Cosmos announced today that the team has signed forward Kharlton Belmar on loan from Portland Timbers 2. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Belmar, 22, was the leading goal scorer for T2's inaugural season, tallying 12 goals and recording three assists in 28 games. Belmar finished the year ranked seventh overall in goals (12) and tied for seventh in points (27) in the United Soccer League (USL). The Virginia Beach, Va., native featured in all 28 of Portland's USL matches.
Belmar was originally selected in the second round (No. 34 overall) of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft out of Virginia Commonwealth University.
A Virginia Beach, Va. native, Belmar finished his senior season as co-leading goal scorer at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014, recording four goals in 19 matches. During his four-year career with the Rams, Belmar logged 18 goals and five assists in 76 appearances.
