Wells named new coach at Skagit Valley JC

We had a brief mention of alum Braden Wells (2007) hiring as the new head coach at Skagit Valley (Wash.) College in Newsletter 205. Here is more on that story.

Braden was a volunteer assistant coach at Washington State in 2016 after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Concordia University from 2013-15.

A native of Glendale, Ariz., Braden played at OSU in 2007 and 2008 and began his coaching career as an OSU undergraduate assistant in 2009. He then was a graduate assistant at Grand Canyon in 2011-12 before going to Concordia.

Braden played two seasons at Dixie State Junior College in Utah before going to OSU. He was a 32nd-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Angels in 2005 and earned first-team all-region honors as sophomore in 2006. He graduated from Brophy Prep High School in Glendale, Ariz.

He was a starter on the very first Corvallis Knights team, which lost 2-0 to Moses Lake in the West Coast League Championship Series.
