Corvallis Knights News Release
The Corvallis Knights captured their fourth West Coast League title on Aug. 16 by defeating Bellingham 6-4 in the decisive Game 3 of the WCL Championship Series at Goss Stadium.
Now, the offseason is in full swing. We've started signing players, and are planning for the 2017 season, as we aim to defend our title!
Once again, congratulations to the team and coaching staff for a job well done! And a big thank you to our fans, who enabled us to set franchise records for total attendance (53,703) and per-game average (1,534).

Nobach named MVP of the 2016 Knights
Center fielder Kyle Nobach of Oregon State was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 Knights in voting done by the coaches and president Dan Segel.
It was the second MVP award of the summer for Nobach, an OSU senior this fall, who was also the MVP of the WCL All-Star Game. He also earned the coveted Joe Segel Hustle Award.
UC Irvine pitcher Cameron Bishop was named the team's Top Pro Prospect. He also earned Top Pro Prospect honors at the All-Star Game and was ranked the WCL's #1 prospect by Perfect Game.
Washington State senior Trenton Dupre earned the Knights Top Pither Award. A left-hander, he retired all 13 batters he faced while saving both Corvallis wins in the Championship Series victory over Bellingham.

Bishop, Kaplan, Quijada named WCL top prospects
Baseball America magazine recently released its 2016 West Coast League top ten prospects list. Corvallis lefties Cameron Bishop of UC Irvine and Chase Kaplan of Kansas were No. 2 and No. 10 on the list. (read more)
Perfect Game named Bishop its #1 prospect. Southpaw Hazahel Quijada of UC Riverside ranked #10. Eight Knights were named to Perfect Game's top 30 list, which was unveiled last week. (read more)

Hayes, Frank named to ARL teams
Alums Danny Hayes (2009) of Oregon State and Trevor Frank (2012) of UC Riverside have been selected to play in the Arizona Fall League, an honor given to the top prospects in each team's minor-league organization. The AFL starts on Oct. 11; the All-Star Game is Nov. 5, the championship game is Nov. 19.
A first baseman, Hayes played for Charlotte, the Chicago White Sox affiliate in the triple-A International League in 2016. A right-handed pitcher, Frank played for Lynchburg, Cleveland's affiliate in the advanced-A Carolina League, this past season. Please click here for more on the Arizona Fall League.
Zep traded to Nationals
Left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski (2006), a UC Riverside alum, was traded to the Washington Nationals from the Oakland A's on Aug. 25. The veteran southpaw posted a 3.00 ERA in 56 relief appearances for the A's, with 37 strikeouts in 36 innings.

Pitcher Matt Boyd (2010) was recalled by Detroit from triple-A Toledo on Sept. 6.Catcher Andrew Susac (2009) was recalled by Milwaukee from triple- A Colorado Springs on Sept. 6.Pitcher Josh Osich (2008) was activated off the 15-day DL by the San Francisco Giants on Sept. 2. Aloha Knights alum Rich Dorman (1999) has been named the new pitching coach at Grand Canyon University.Former Corvallis outfielder Jes Staples (2015) was added to the Bellarmine University coaching staff.Longtime Aloha Knights trainer Joel Marick (2000-2006) and his wife Kristen are proud parents of baby Thea. She was born Sept. 4.Shortstop Matt Duffy's (2010) of Tampa Bay's season was cut short due to surgery on Sept. 9. He will be in great shape for spring training 2017.Earlier this week, Braden Wells (2007) was named the new head baseball coach at Skagit Valley College.
