
Copperheads Ready For ESPN's National Spotlight

ESPN2's morning show, "Cold Pizza" will be in Katy, Texas on June 9th, 2006 for the Copperheads matchup against the visiting Twin City (Monroe) Gators. ESPN2 launched Cold Pizza on October 20th, 2003, as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. The two-hour, weekday morning show airs live from New York City between 10am - 12pm ET and encores between 12pm - 2pm ET each day with live news updates.
Cold Pizza features hosts Jay Crawford and Dana Jacobson, along side with Woody Paige and Skip Bayless. Guests and regular contributors from the sports world, and various walks of life, appear regularly to offer their insights. Cold Pizza combines a unique blend of sports, pop culture and lifestyle features - all customized for ESPN viewers.
Cold Pizza also features live, on-location reports from the field, as well as, interactive elements that encourage viewer participation in unique ways. ESPN2 launched Oct. 1st, 1993 with 10 million homes. It is currently available in 85.6 million homes. The Copperheads are the focus of an inside story on indoor football. The Copperheads are currently one of the nation's most successful first year franchises in league history.
If you haven't seen it yet - "Cold Pizza" is the morning show with everything -- including Copperheads Football! Besides filming the game and interviewing team members, staff and fans, the "Cold Pizza" crew will also report on their adventures at this important NIFL matchup as Katy tries to improve its seeding heading into the playoffs. Look for this story to air in an upcoming show on ESPN2. This may be a "chance of a lifetime" for fans to star on their favorite sports network.
Katy fans are expected to turn out in record numbers for this national event in Texas. Tickets should be at a premium for this NIFL game at the Merrill Center. Several Copperhead players have NFL experience and will once again showcase their talent Friday night.
The Copperheads face the Twin City Gators Friday, June 9th at the Merrill Center. Kickoff is at 7:05 pm. The Copperheads have been in hibernation since their May 20th blowout of Beaumont and are ready to breakout against the Gators.
Blake added, "We are very excited to host ESPN and showcase our team and the City of Katy. I am very proud of what my team has accomplished this season and can't wait for the playoffs to start."
The Copperheads, who are now 8-3 and owners of a three-game lead over second-place Beaumont in the South Division, must keep winning to secure a better playoff seeding.
The Katy Copperheads will play a 14 game schedule in 2006 consisting of seven home and seven away games. The remaining home games will be played in the Leonard E. Merrell Center on the following dates:
- Friday, June 9th, 2006 (Monroe)
- Saturday, June 24th, 2006 (West Palm Beach)
- Monday, July 10th, 2006 (Home Playoff Game TBA)
