Copperheads expecting a large turnout for Saturdays open tryouts
January 3, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Texas Copperheads News Release
Katy, TX (January 3, 2006) - Rescheduling the original Katy Copperheads tryouts has turned out to be a good decision in more ways than one. Now that the holidays have past, the phones at the Copperheads office have been ringing non-stop. This week, most of the calls have been to inquire about Saturdays open player tryouts. Coach Blake says that local player interest has been enormous. "If the number of calls has any indication of how many athletes will actually show up Saturday morning, we could have as many as 200 participants!" The weather also played a big factor in rescheduling the original tryouts. This weekend forecast calls for sunny skies with highs around 70. Player tryouts are open to the public, and Coach Blake encourages the entire community to come out and help kickoff this exciting new era in Katy sports.
In addition to tryout inquiries, season tickets have been selling at a very fast pace. "At this point, I'm beginning to think we are not going to have enough seats at the Merrell Center. Of course, that's a good problem to have! I could not be happier with the overwhelming amount of support the Katy community has shown. All signs seem to suggest that the Katy Copperheads and Professional Indoor Football will be a huge success!"
