Convey Replaces Injured Bornstein on MLS All-Star Roster

NEW YORK (Thursday, July 22, 2010) - MLS All-Star Head Coach Bruce Arena has selected San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Bobby Convey as an All-Star to replace Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein, who suffered a knee injury this week. Convey will be a member of the 23-man roster that will take on 2009 English Premier League champion Manchester United on July 28, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2, TeleFutura).

Convey has appeared in all 14 of the Earthquakes' matches in 2010 and recorded assists on eight of the team's 18 total goals this season. This is Convey's third career All-Star selection (2001, 2004).

Bornstein suffered a right knee injury on Sunday, July 18 in the 23rd minute of Chivas USA's SuperLiga match against the Houston Dynamo. He is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
