A superb effort by Benjamin Contento (St. Bonaventure) spurred the Saugerties Stallions (13-25) to a 4-1 win over the Amsterdam Mohawks (27-13) on Tuesday at Cantine Memorial Veterans Field.
Contento struck out 10 hitters en route to the the Saugerties Stallions win. Contento allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks over nine innings.
Jeff Belge (St. John's) (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
