ALBANY, NY - The Albany Conquest announced today that former Baltimore Ravens and University of Notre Dame wide receiver Javin Hunter has been assigned to the Conquest by the af2 for the 2008 season, bringing the Conquest's announced roster up to five players.

Hunter, 27, played college football for the University of Notre Dame from 1998-2001, playing in 41 career games and making 20 starts. The Orchard Lake, MI native led the Fighting Irish in receptions during his senior season (2001) with 37 catches for 387 yards. Hunter was then drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL Draft and played in twelve games (three starts) during the 2002 season, catching five passes for seven yards and rushing for nine yards on one attempt. The 6'0, 197 lbs receiver also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, but did not play any games for them.

"Javon is an explosive player who has a chance to really thrive in this league," said Conquest Head Coach Jeff Hoffman. "He has the experience of playing in big time situations and should be one of our top offensive threats."

Hunter, the son of former Detroit Lions defensive back James Hunter (1976-82), grew up as a high school basketball star. He helped Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Michigan win three straight state basketball titles and was teammates with former Duke star and current Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier.

The Conquest will begin their 2008 season on the road at the Mahoning Valley Thunder on Saturday, March 29th at 7:05 pm. The Conquest's home opener will be on Sunday, April 13th at 4:00 pm against the Peoria Pirates at the Times Union Center.

Full and partial season ticket packages are now on sale for the 2008 Albany Conquest regular season. For more information please contact the Conquest at (518) 487-2244 or online at www.albanyconquest.com.
