Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release

BOARDMAN, Ohio- The Mahoning Valley Thunder continues to bolster their 2008 roster. This afternoon, in conjunction with the arenafootball2 League Office, Mahoning Valley has announced that Royce Morgan has been assigned to the 2008 roster. Morgan (6'2, 265) an Offensive/Defensive Lineman is an af2 rookie.

An Avenel, New Jersey native, Morgan joins Mahoning Valley after an impressive college career at Lehigh University (Bethlehem, Pa.). Morgan played in a total of 40 games as a Mountain Hawk, earning All-Patriot League honors three times.

Known as a disruptive defender, Morgan compiled 124 total tackles including 35.5 for loss to go along with 19.5 sacks, two interceptions and six pass break-ups. Morgan had his best season in 2005 when he led the Mountain Hawks defense with six sacks in addition to his 41 total tackles. Prior to attending Lehigh, Royce was an All-State selection as a senior at Colonia High School in New Jersey.

THUNDER HEAD COACH MIKE HOLD SAYS:

"Royce is a terrific athlete for a lineman. The numbers tell the story. He's shown a consistent ability to get into the backfield and create big plays for the defense. He's a fast guy for a player his size, we think he's quick enough to play line on either side of the ball. We expect him to compete for a starting role on both sides of the ball."

The Mahoning Valley Thunder opens the season at home Saturday March 29th on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre. Be a part of all the action in 2008 as the Thunder continues their climb towards the ArenaCup9 Championship. Season ticket prices start as low as $96 and are on sale now.
