Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, brought home two ECHL Awards of Excellence from the league meetings this past week, winning the Marketing and the Website of the Year Awards. In both categories, a winner was selected from each conference.
The website award goes to the Condors for the second time in the last four seasons. The Condors site is designed by Jason Best from iSportsMedia, an IWS/D Company, and Condors Creative Director Ryan Hanson. Constantly undergoing upgrades and maintenance, the site features an extensive amount of video and audio, interactive items allowing for feedback, including web polls, blogs and a mailbag, as well as regular features such as community and game calendars, news items, links to stories on ECHL.com and more. Judging for the award was conducted by Vice President of Editorial & Production for NHL.com Rich Libero. "This season presented the biggest challenge yet," said Libero, who is in his ninth year with NHL.com. "Across the board ECHL club sites took a big step in the right direction, particularly in the video space. Bakersfield's design is simply professional and well organized and content modules are nicely balanced with marketing and advertising."
The Condors take home the Marketing Award for the first time in team history. The selection honors the Condors campaign to promote their 10th Anniversary season, highlighted by the team's pervasive logo usage and anniversary themed collateral such as the website, 10th Anniversary Team, Xtreme Memories, game night videos, radio and television advertising, ticket books and various promotional events throughout the year.
"It's a tremendous honor to have your efforts recognized on a league-wide level," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "We work very hard here in Condorstown to provide our community with a product they can be proud of. There are many teams throughout the league that continue to raise the bar, so it's very rewarding to be acknowledged at that level."
In five seasons as members of the ECHL, the Condors have taken home six league-wide awards. In addition to this season's honors, the Condors also claimed the Ticket Department of the Year and Website of the Year in 2004-05, and Executive of the Year (Matthew Riley) and Ticket Executives of the Year (Tim Statezni and Greg Lowe) in 2006-07.
Notes from The Nest Opening Night against the Ontario Reign is just 123 days away, on October 18. Season tickets and mini-plans, starting at just $42, are on sale now. Group outings and reservations for the Condors on- ice and VIP suites are now available as well.
