
Compuware Arena Hosts Bellatro 124 MMA Event on September 12

PLYMOUTH, MI - Since opening in 1996, Compuware Arena in Plymouth Township has hosted hockey, drive-in movies, concerts, graduations, indoor soccer, boxing and various corporate and charitable events.
On September 12, Compuware Arena transforms into the Octagon.
Compuware Arena (in association with Bellator MMA) hosts "Bellator 124" in a Mixed Martial Arts card that will be shown live on Spike TV. The headline event is a Light Heavyweight Title bout featuring reigning Bellator Champion Emmanuel Newton taking on challenger Joey Beltran.
Newton, 30 - known as "The Hardcore Kid" - comes into the match at 23-7-1, with 3 KO/TKO's and 8 Submissions. Beltran, 32 - known as "The Mexicutioner" - comes into the match at 15-10, with 11 KO and 2 Submissions.
Newton and Beltran meet on Sept. 12 after winning their last matches. Newton defeated Attila Vegh at Bellator 113 on March 21, 2014 in a close split decision. Beltran won by submission (North-South choke) over Vladimir Matyushenko on April 11, 2014.

Another bout during Bellator 124 features up-and-coming Light Heavyweights Liam McGeary (undefeated at 8-0, with 5 TKO/KO's) against Kelly Anundson (9-2-0, 2 TKO/KO's and 5 Submission) in the Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Final.
McGeary has an impressive record since joining Bellator, with five victors by first round finish while spending just 5:08 in the Bellator cage. Anundson has won six straight fights with five coming by KO's or submissions. He scored a TKO over Philipe Lins on July 25 in Bellator 122.

Compuware Arena Vice President and General Manager Mike Henry continues to find new opportunities for the facility originally known as a hockey arena when it opened in 1996.
"Each event is a separate challenge," Henry said. "But it's fun to bring different events here. We've learned through experience that preparation plus hard work equals first-class entertainment for anyone who comes to Compuware Arena."
Bellator 124 is the first MMA event for the arena. Compuware Arena hosted TNA's "Bound for Glory" wrestling card in 2006. In 2007, Emanuel Steward, Dennis Turner and Second Round, Inc. brought in Kronk Gym's New Stars for a boxing event known as "The Ultimate Night of Boxing."
