Community School of Naples to host Florida Flame preseason game Nov. 12

FORT MYERS, Fla., November 2 -- The Florida Flame, presented by Century 21 Sunbelt Realty, will face the Arkansas RimRockers on Saturday, November 12 in an NBA Development League preseason game at the CSN Fieldhouse on the campus of the Community School of Naples. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. The event is an opportunity for Flame fans to get their first glimpse of the 2005-06 squad led by Head Coach Jeff Malone.

Tickets are available by calling the Community School of Naples Athletic Department at (239) 597-7575 ext. 216 or the Florida Flame ticket office at 877-FLAME-TIX. Tickets will also be on sale at the Community School of Naples Athletics box office on the day of the game. General admission tickets are $6 while courtside reserved seats are $10. Seating is limited.

"Hosting the Florida Flame preseason game is a great opportunity for basketball fans in Naples to get an up close view of NBA talent," said Community School of Naples Director of Athletics, Bill Carufe. "The Community School is excited to have the chance to host this event in our new state of the art facility. The Florida Flame is a first class franchise and we expect this to be a first class event."

Ticket proceeds will be donated to Southwest Florida's Animal Refuge Center, Inc. (ARC) for the care of animals displaced by Hurricanes Wilma, Katrina, and Rita. ARC, a for-impact volunteer organization and sanctuary, provides a clean, safe, no-kill environment primarily for cats and dogs within the Lee and Collier County area, and actively seeks their adoption to qualified individuals. Through public education and an active spay and neuter program, ARC strives to reduce the number of unwanted animals in the community. ARC also promotes animal welfare advocacy and cruelty investigations, as well as utilizing educations as a major resource to reach pet owners on responsible pet ownership and kindness to all creatures.

The Community School of Naples is located at 13275 Livingston Road, Naples, FL 34109. From I-75, take the Pine Ridge Road exit (Exit 107) and go west. Take a right onto Livingston Road. At the first stoplight take a left onto Osceola and the school is located on the left-hand side.

The Flame open training camp on Sunday, November 6 in Fort Myers. Florida opens its 2005-06 D-League regular season schedule on Friday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m. against the Roanoke Dazzle at Germain Arena. For ticket information call (877) FLAME-TIX or visit floridaflame.com.

The Florida Flame is the official D-League affiliate of the NBA's Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic. Showcasing the best young talent in professional basketball outside of the NBA, the Flame will play a 48-game schedule during the 2005-06 season with 23 home games at Germain Arena. Led by a group of local investors, the Flame is entering its second season of providing affordable, family entertainment to sports fans throughout Southwest Florida.

The NBA Development League tips off its fifth season on November 18, 2005. The league includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), , Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.).

The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Thirty-four (34) players have been called up to the NBA on 50 separate occasions. Ten (10) former D-League coaches, five athletic trainers, 11 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.
