Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders fullback Gerald Commissiong has decided to retire from football in order to pursue professional opportunities away from the game.
The Stamps selected Commissiong in the fourth round (30th overall) of the 2006 CFL Canadian Draft. After completing his senior season at Northern Arizona University, he joined the Stamps for the 2007 Canadian Football League season. As a rookie, he dressed for 18 games and had 17 carries for 61 yards.
"We're disappointed to lose Gerald because he was a good team player and he brought a lot of value to our club on offence and on special teams," said head coach/general manager John Hufnagel. "But we wish him the best in his new endeavor."
The Stamps have second-year fullback Rob Cote back from last season and selected fullback Jonathan Lapointe in the sixth round of last week's CFL Canadian Draft.
