Commissioner receives five-year contract extension

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 - Following the Board of Governors meeting, which was held in Quebec City last Thursday, the Governors unanimously voted to extend the contract of Commissioner Gilles Courteau for an additional five years.

"I'm very pleased with the contract renewal offered by the Board of Governors," mentioned the Commissioner. "I will continue, with the cooperation of club executives, to work to build upon the successes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League."

The Commissioner has been in office since February, 1986.

"For the past ten years, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has progressed quite nicely and it's definitely on the right track," commented the President of the Board of Governors, Me Marc Savard. "By extending the Commissioner's contract, the Governors were adamant about securing his skills and experience on a long-term basis."
