U.S. National Futsal Team prepares for Cuban team
Win will guarantee top spot in Group B

The U.S. National Futsal team, stocked with MISL players, is undefeated in two matches and looks for a win over the Cuban team as they meet tonight at the 2004 CONCACAF Futsal Tournament in Costa Rica. With a win over Cuba, the Americans would be guaranteed the top spot in Group B and would then play the lower-seeded team from Group A in the semifinals.

The USA and Panama faced off in the first round of the CONCACAF Futsal Tournament on Saturday where the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Panama took the early lead, but forward Greg Howes (of the MISL's Milwaukee Wave) evened the score in the second half with goal in the 26th minute. Joel Shanker (Philadelphia KiXX), put the Americans ahead in the 32nd minute, but Panama quickly tied the score 2-2, and the game ended in a draw.

The U.S. next faced Guyana on Monday night, and after a five-goal second half, the team strolled to an 6-0 victory. Goals came from Shanker, Todd Dusosky-2 (Milwaukee Wave), Pat White-2 (Milwaukee Wave) and Andy Guastaferro (Chicago Storm). For more information, please visit the CONCACAF website. Click here.
