DAVIS, BEASLEY END REGULAR SEASON AS MISL AWARD
CANDIDATES:
Jeff Davis is a leading candidate for Defender of the Year. He closed out the regular season with two goals, an assist and two blocks against San Diego on Saturday night. In his seventh season with Kansas City, Davis more than doubled his offensive production from last season and maintained his defensive dominance. The St. Louis native led the Comets as team captain and finished with 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points. He also blocked 83 shots for third place in the MISL. He was named MISL Defensive Player of the Week twice: January 19 and March 15. He was also named to his second All-Star Game. His best defensive game during the regular season came against the Philadelphia KiXX on March 6. He recorded nine blocks. Davis recorded two four-point games: against Philadelphia on January 10 and against Cleveland on January 17. Davis recorded a natural hat trick on December 26 against St. Louis. Davis will celebrate his 33rd birthday on Sunday.
Jamar Beasley is the frontrunner for the MISL Rookie of the Year Award. Beasley finished in second place in points for the Comets and only trailed two-time MVP Dino Delevski. His quickness and ability to break through opposing teams' defenses helped Beasley finish the regular season with 31 goals and 15 assists for 46 points. He recorded two game-winning goals (one in overtime) and also blocked 12 shots. The 25-year-old forward was a consistent presence for the Comets as he played in all 36 games in his rookie season. He was honored as the Comets' most improved player. Beasley scored at least one point in 24 of 36 games this season, which includes one point in 12 of the last 15 games. The native of Ft. Wayne, Ind. recorded two four-point games and five three-point games this season.
