Kansas City Comets News Release
The Comets fought back from a 4-0 halftime deficit and pulled to within 5-3 early in the fourth, but the San Diego Sockers held on for a 6-3 win at San Diego Sports Arena on Saturday night. With their second straight loss, the Comets fell to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 on the road. DJ Horvath took the loss in goal for the Comets with 17 saves.
San Diego scored four goals in the first quarter, more than they had scored in any single game coming into the night. Dino Delevski attempted to spur the Kansas City comeback with a pair of third-quarter goals, at 11:33 and 13:24, and Jamar Beasley's score just 41 seconds into the fourth cut the Sockers' lead to 5-3. But San Diego keeper Victor Nogueira (16 saves) was solid as time wound down, and Mauricio Alegre sealed the win when he beat sixth attacker Wes Wade at 12:09 to produce the final score.
