Houston Comets News Release

Tina Thompson returned to start for the Houston Comets after sitting out four games with a fractured ring finger to score a team-high 19 points in the Comets 73-65 win over the Sacramento Monarchs in Reliant Arena. The Houston Comets are now at .500 (9-9) for the first time since 2006, a notable feat considering they began the season 0-5.

Sancho Lyttle continues to make her mark in the rotation with her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Four of Houston's starters scored in double digits, including Michelle Snow with 17 points and Hamchétou Maïga-Ba with 12 points. Sacramento was without Kara Lawson, but Nicole Powell delivered for the team with 18 points, while Laura Harper poured in 11 points off the bench. Rebekkah Brunson led the Monarchs in rebounds by cleaning the glass eight times.

The Comets begin a three-game road trip to face the Phoenix Mercury on July 8, the Los Angeles Sparks on July 9 and the Minnesota Lynx on July 12.
