Houston Comets News Release

HOUSTON (July 5, 2008) - The Houston Comets sign guard Roneeka Hodges to a seven-day contract, it was announced today by Head Coach & General Manager Karleen Thompson.

Earlier this year, Houston lost Hodges in the WNBA Expansion Draft for the league's newest franchise, the Atlanta Dream. Hodges was then traded by Atlanta to the Seattle Storm along with the No. 4 pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft in exchange for Iziane Castro Marques and the No. 8 pick. She was briefly reunited with her sister Doneeka Hodges on Seattle's training camp roster but both were waived by the Storm prior to the start of the 2008 regular season. Hodges has played all three of her WNBA seasons with the Comets, posting averages of 4.3 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per game over 88 matches with 12 starts. She was selected by the Houston Comets in the second round (No. 15 overall) in the 2005 WNBA Draft.

The Houston Comets take off on a three-game road trip to face the Phoenix Mercury on July 8, the Los Angeles Sparks on July 9 and the Minnesota Lynx on July 12. The Comets' next home game in Reliant Arena is July 17 at 11 a.m. against the Minnesota Lynx for their annual Kids Day. Individual game tickets are on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase season tickets or group tickets, call 713-627-WNBA.
