Columbus Comets News Release

Columbus, OH, October 14, 2003 The Badgers may have upset the Bucks this weekend but Ohio football will have the opportunity to take revenge on Wisconsin sooner than you think. Ohio women's tackle football that is. That's because the Columbus Comets come face-to-face with the Wisconsin Riveters when they hit the gridiron this spring in their first season with the National Women's Football Association (NWFA).

Some may remember that the NWFA actually made its debut in Columbus last year with a team called the Columbus Flames. The Comets replace that team and with its entry into the league, join the Great Lakes Division. Membership with that division brings much responsibility for the Comets. Besides Wisconsin, the Great Lakes Division includes the Southwest Michigan Jaguars, Indiana Thunder, Toledo Spitfire, Cleveland Fusion, and Detroit Demolition.

"Competing against Detroit is a great opportunity for our team," says Comets co-owner Lori Davis. "After all, the Demolition is the league's reigning national champion. These ladies are ready to take over that title," adds Davis. Many of the players from the Flames return for another season of tackle football with the Comets and are already preparing to improve their 5-3 record from last year.

And with Michigan as Ohio State's greatest rival, the game between the Comets and the Jaguars is sure to be a hit for Buckeyes and Comets fans alike.

The 2004 NWFA season kicks off this April. Game schedules will be announced in November. "Well make season tickets available once the NWFA releases our schedule." says Davis. Tickets can be purchased a variety of ways, including through the team's Web site at www.columbuscomets.com .
