Kansas City Comets News Release
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Comets announced today that Stefan Stokic will remain on the Comets bench as the team's Assistant Coach to Head Coach, Leo Gibson for the 2021-22 season. This will be Stokic's second season as a member of the Comets' coaching staff.
The Belgrade, Serbia native announced his retirement last year after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Stokic joined Gibson's coaching staff just before the 2020-21 season.
"I am excited to be back coaching with the Comets," said Stokic. "The Comets are my home and I want us to win another trophy. Our main goal this season is to win another championship."
Stokic played 10 seasons with the Comets and finished his career with 21 goals, 30 assists for 65 points while playing in 169 games. Stokic was notorious for throwing his body in front of countless shots throughout his career.
"Stefan has one of the best minds in the indoor game," said Comets Managing Partner, Brian Budzinski. "We are fortunate to have him on our bench for another season."
The Kansas City Comets 2021-22 campaign kicks off Friday, November 12th at Cable Dahmer Arena. Group tickets are on sale now. For the latest news and information, visit KCComets.com and follow the team on Facebook, Instagram and twitter.
