Comets Claim Edwige Lawson Off Waivers

HOUSTON – The Houston Comets announced today that the team has claimed guard Edwige Lawson (pronounced: Ed-Weege) off waivers from the New York Liberty. The Comets also announced that the team has waived guard Felicia Ragland.

Lawson (5-6, France) signed as a rookie free agent with New York this year before being waived by the Liberty on May 30. In two games with the Liberty this season, Lawson made a pair of free throws and picked up two rebounds in 12 minutes of action. She played this past offseason with VBM-SGAU Samara (BC Volgaburmash) in Russia.

Ragland (5-9, Oregon State ‘02), who saw limited action in three games this season with the Comets, originally signed as a free agent with Houston on March 2, 2004. She was one of just two Comets to play in all 34 games last season, posting career-high averages in assists (1.1) and rebounds (2.0) while scoring 3.5 points per game.
