WAYNE, New Jersey - A late comeback fell short on Friday night as the Brooklyn Aviators lost to the New Jersey Outlaws 5-3 in Federal Hockey League action.

Matt Atsoff and Andrew Owsiak each had one goal and one assist in the loss for the Aviators.

Brooklyn would get on the board 6:23 into the first period on Atsoff's second goal of the year. Atsoff would put home an Owsiak pass in front of Outlaws' netminder Adam Dekker to give the Aviators the 1-0 lead. New Jersey quickly found the equalizer 13-seconds later, as Travis Kauffeldt's 10th marker of the season tied the game at 1-1. The Outlaws continued the pile on the pressure and registered the next two goals, from Brett Liscomb and Kevin Cooper, to take a two-goal lead, 3-1, after the opening period.

Two former Aviators found the back of the net in the second period, which gave the Outlaws a 5-1 lead. John Goffredo scored 1:11 into the middle frame to collect his sixth tally of season to put New Jersey up 4-1. Matt Puntureri followed with his eighth marker of the year at the 6:27 spot giving the Outlaws a four-goal edge, at 5-1.

The Aviators tallied two goals late in the third period with markers from Casey Mignone and Owsiak, however it was not enough as the Outlaws held on for the 5-3 victory.
