Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - The Lewiston MAINEiacs played a resilient game on Tuesday night, erasing two different leads by the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. However, the third lead was the charm for Baie-Comeau, as Jean-Philippe Caron rifled home a shot at the 12:50 mark of the third period, lifting the visitors to a 5-4 win in front of 1,213 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Baie-Comeau got off to a strong start in the first period, as Simon Darveau paced his club to a 2-0 lead with a pair of tallies in the first 8:48 of play. His first goal came off of a rebound on the right side of the crease, while his second one came on a breakaway. The MAINEiacs got to within a goal in the opening stanza, as Stefan Fournier batted in the rebound off Matt Bissonnette's point shot at 14:45 on the power play. Michael Chaput also assisted on Fournier's 11th of the season.

Lewiston turned the tables on the Drakkar in the middle frame, starting the period by killing a penalty from a scrum at the end of the first. With momentum in their corner, the MAINEiacs scored twice in 1:08. Jess Tanguy picked up a loose puck in the circle and put it in for a 2-2 tie, before Pierre-Olivier Morin finished off a 2-on-1 with Dillon Fournier for Lewiston's only lead of the game.

With the exception of the last minute, the MAINEiacs played a tremendous second period. However, that final minute cost the home team, as Maxim Lamarche and Lukas Cingel each scored, giving Baie-Comeau a 4-3 advantage. Lamarche's goal came with 57 seconds left, while Cingel's beat the buzzer, as video review showed 0.9 ticks left on the clock.

Matt Bissonnette knotted the game at four with a rocket at the 4:23 mark of the third, but the Drakkar had an answer, as Jean-Philippe Caron scored on a slap shot from the right circle with 7:10 left to go. Lewiston did have one more chance with the man advantage, but couldn't get the tying goal.

Jason Missiaen earned the win for Baie-Comeau, making 28 saves on 32 shots. Andrey Makarov was on the losing end for the MAINEiacs, as he allowed five goals on 21 shots.

The MAINEiacs will continue their homestand on Friday at 7:00, when they face the Saint John Sea Dogs.
