
Columbus State University to Host NBDL Preseason Game

COLUMBUS, Ga., October 31, 2002 â The Columbus Riverdragons will open their 2002 NBDL preseason schedule Saturday, November 9 against the defending NBDL Champion Greenville Groove at the Lumpkin Center on the campus of Columbus State University. The game was originally scheduled to be played at the Columbus Civic Center. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
All seats for the Riverdragons preseason opener at the Lumpkin Center are $6 general admission. The Riverdragons will donate $3 of every ticket sold to local United Way chapters servicing Muscogee, Harris, Chattahoochee, Stewart, Talbot, Marion, Taylor and Russell counties. The United Way supports 21 agencies and 59 programs, providing services to over 150,000 people.
Tickets may be purchased on the day of the game - Saturday, November 9 - at the Lumpkin Center beginning at 5 p.m. Season ticket holders may use their preseason tickets for admission to the Lumpkin Center. For more information call (706) 225-1100 or visit columbusriverdragons.com.
The Lumpkin Center, named for longtime CSU supporter the late Frank G. Lumpkin, is the home of the Columbus State Cougars men's and women's basketball programs. The men's team will open its season November 15-17 at the Disney Division II Tip-off Classic at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The Cougars' home opener is November 26 against Morehouse College. The 2002 NCAA Division II Champion CSU baseball team will receive their championship rings at half time. The Lady Cougars will open the 2002-03 season at home hosting the CSU Tip-off Classic November 22-23.
The Columbus Riverdragons open the 2002-03 NBDL season Friday, November 15, 2002 against Groove at the BI-LO Center in Greenville. The Riverdragons home opener is slated for Friday, November 22 against the Roanoke Dazzle at the Columbus Civic Center.
