Columbus Signs Left Wing Pascal Pelletier

Syracuse, NY (July 6, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have signed left wing Pascal Pelletier to a one year two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Pelletier, 26, appeared in 71 games with Rockford last season, tallying 29 goals, 26 assists and 45 penalty minutes. He also skated in seven games with the Chicago Blackhawks last year.

Pelletier has appeared in 277 combined AHL games with Providence and Rockford since 2005-06 and registered 100 goals, 125 assists and 213 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on January 17, 2008 vs. Toronto while with the Boston Bruins. In 13 combined NHL games with Boston and Chicago, Pelletier has not registered a point.

He experienced his best professional campaign in 2007-08 when he racked up 75 points (37g, 38a) in 73 contests with Providence. His 37 goals ranked fourth in the AHL and he was selected to represent Team Canada at the 2007-08 AHL All-Star Classic. In addition, Pelletier capped his season by being selected to the AHL First All-Star Team.

A native of Labrador City, Newfoundland, Pelletier has also appeared in 33 combined Calder Cup Playoff games over the past four seasons with Providence and Rockford, collecting 14 goals, 14 assists and 49 penalty minutes.
